Founding Attorney
Randy’s practice focuses on litigation, with an emphasis on commercial and business law, construction law, and serious personal injury. He also has extensive experience in complex insurance coverage litigation and claims involving the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation and South Carolina Workers’ Compensation Acts. With a wide range of experience in a variety of practice areas, Randy has established himself as an effective litigator and problem solver for both business and individuals.
Before starting the Helmly Law Firm, Randy practiced with civil litigation firms in Charleston and Greenville, South Carolina. While in Greenville, he also served as a part-time prosecutor for the 13th Circuit Solicitor’s Office. Prior to entering private practice, Randy served as a South Carolina Circuit Court law clerk to the Honorable John C. Few, now a Justice on the South Carolina Supreme Court. Randy is admitted to practice in both State and Federal Courts of South Carolina and has appeared numerous times in each on behalf of his clients.
A native of Summerville, South Carolina, Randy has spent most of his life in the Lowcountry and is committed to the health and vitality of our community. He is an active supporter of numerous local organizations and nonprofits and serves on the board of directors for Share Our Suzy Lowcountry and the Lucy Beckham High School Athletic Foundation. Randy, his wife, Prentice, and two children, William and Eleanor, reside in Mount Pleasant and are active members of Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church. In his spare time, Randy enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, playing music, and attending Beckham Bengal sporting events.
